Health eVillages is a program of Physicians Interactive and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights which delivers help to global health initiatives in the way of mobile phones and technology. Physicians Interactive recently formed a partnership with Regis College and Partners in Health to improve healthcare in the most underserved region of Haiti. This program, called HERO (Health eVillages Regis College Outreach) will provide mHelath tools needed for the Health Center in the area around Hinche, a city in central Haiti.
Health eVillages will provide up-to-date mobile clinical decision support and healthcare reference resources as well as mobile devices and mobile device training. The Haitian coordinator in the program will go to Regis College for training and then return to Haiti to train her staff.
“Physicians Interactive could not be more pleased to be an active partner with Regis College and Partners in Health in the HERO program,” said Donato Tramuto, CEO and Vice Chairman of Physicians Interactive and Founder and Chairman of Health eVillages in a recent press release. “Having partners on the ground in Haiti who have the experience, the relationships and the trust of their communities is a blessing for Health eVillages. We are not only excited to sponsor the introduction of nurse educators in Hinche, but we look forward to providing those caregivers with unmatched medical information and tools that will empower them to improve the quality of patient care.”
Since the Health eVillages program began in 2011, more than 100 clinicians worldwide have been able to use mobile devices to improve quality of care in Kenya, Uganda, China and Haiti. Over 20,000 patients have been seen.
