To find out, join us next Wednesday at 1 pm, when The HealthWorks Collective is sponsoring what promises to be a rich online panel discussion about the impact of of social media on healthcare. In recent years we’ve seen a surge in social media activity in the medical world. Patients are using social networks to seek information about their conditions and communicate with physicians. Medical researchers are turning to the social web to crowdsource data collection, while medical institutions increasingly deploy tools like Facebook and Twitter to coordinate their operations.
New technology always brings new risk, of course. To what extent can social media create liability for medical professionals, and what are the best strategies to mitigate that risk? We’ve recruited an awesome panel to discuss these questions. Our panelists include Johnson & Johnson social media czar Marc Monseau, Dr. Mark Ryan of Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center and the Center for Social Media at the Mayo Clinic, and Meghan Hannes of CyberFactors, an insurance industry veteran with special expertise in helping organizations deal with social media risk. Our moderator is Jake Wengroff, global director of social media strategy and research at the consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.
