Reputable brick-and-mortar weight-loss companies that have been around for decades are reporting drops in walk-in traffic. But mobile apps that help you keep track of your fitness and dieting activities are booming. Even Weight Watchers has joined the “mobile bandwagon” with a slew of apps dedicated to health and better eating!
It’s all about convenience. People are on their phones for a bunch of other activities like bill paying and social networking. Why not add dieting to the routine? According to a recent Pew Research Center poll, one fifth of all smartphone users have at least one health-related app on their phone.
Even better: many of these apps are free. No longer do you have to go to an expensive support group. Apps like MyFitnessApp, which currently has 40 million users, allows users to integrate with social media so you can connect with others for support at any hour of the day and night.
These dedicated mobile apps are not only effective, they seem to be turning into the standard for those looking to get healthy and stay fit.
