From the mHealthSummit Website:
“Where Technology, Business, Research and Policy Connect.
The largest event of its kind, the 4th annual mHealth Summit brings together leaders in government, the private sector, industry, academia, providers and not-for-profit organizations from across the mHealth ecosystem to advance collaboration in the use of wireless technology to improve health outcomes in the United States and abroad.”
This explanation was so good that I wanted to quote it directly from the website. The mHealthSummit is truly a jam-packed with information, exciting, wonderful-to-be-a-part-of conference. I went last year and I am going to Washington DC on Sunday to take part in the lectures and discussion groups this year also.
The conference is from Monday, Dec 3rd to Wednesday, Dec 5th at the Gaylord Center in Washington DC. The hashtag to follow is #mHS2012.
There are also add-on events – several breakfast meetings, a Health 2.0 State of Change program that introduces innovative start-ups to watch in 2013, a Mobile Venture Fair bringing entrepreneurs and investors together, and a WIP Jam that will focus on Mobile App Development.
The agenda itself is extensive and is comprised of keynote speakers and themed tracks in Business, Global Health, HealthCare Delivery, Policy, Research and Technology. There is no way that you can see it all!
Some of the keynotes this year include representatives from HIH, the United Nations, the US Agency for International Development as well as industry leaders from Verizon and Aetna.
The Exhibit Floor is huge and the Exhibitor List (with website information) is large. Just to give you an idea of some of the exhibitors on the floor:
Healthrageous – Digital Health Management Program for adopting and maintaining optimal health management behaviors.
Direct Dermatology – Providing 24/7 access to US Board Certified Dermatologists online.
iRx Reminder – Real Time Mobile Data Capture for Clinical Trials.
Play2Prevent – developing innovative evidence-based educational materials and targeted videogame interventions for risk reduction and prevention in youth and young adults.
TruthOnCall – offering industry members the opportunity to ask thousands of healthcare professionals questions.
WillowTreeApps – An App Development Company that focuses on customers’ mobile needs from the highest strategic level through to product design, development and launch
These are just a few of the more than 400 exhibitors!
Besides attending the lectures and participating in the discussion groups, this conference is tailor-made for networking. mHealth industry leaders are there and entrepreneurs from innovative start-ups are ready to tell their story and pitch their product. This video interview from last year’s summit gives a pretty good idea of what this aspect of the conference is about:
I will be posting and tweeting about the summit and you can of course find A LOT of information on the mHealthSummit website. So, those who are interested in the explosive new world of healthcare mobile, please check back with us or with mHealthSummit.org next week for more news on this great conference!
