More dermatologists struggle with efficiency internally in their practices. One system for billing, another for maintaining medical records and a third for insurance processing all translate into lots of coordinating and logistics and exhausting resources. What if there was a central location that could keep all this data in one place?
More dermatologists struggle with efficiency internally in their practices. One system for billing, another for maintaining medical records and a third for insurance processing all translate into lots of coordinating and logistics and exhausting resources. What if there was a central location that could keep all this data in one place?
Well, a company by the name of eDerm Systems is trying to change that with the help of an iPad and a dedicated app. Created by dermatologists for dermatologists, this software makes dermatology practices more efficient, which equates to more patients and ultimately making the practice more lucrative.
With the app, everything can be accessed remotely and wirelessly – no need for server space, as everything sits on the app on the iPad. The app can take photos for pathology, send e-prescriptions to a pharmacy, and even send out invoices digitally.
What makes the app even more impressive is it self-learns with one-touch documentation. A medical assistant simply scribes a body part on the screen the doctor is examining and it automatically adds notes and creates a record. The doctor can then review the record and easily make edits if necessary.
Besides eDerm, which is strictly for dermatology offices, Modernizing Medicine is another solution that provides cloud-based EMR solutions for other specialties such as ophthalmology, optometry, orthopedics and cosmetic/plastic surgery.
Completely HIPAA-compliant, both eDerm and Modernizing Medicine EHR software make paper records and reading doctor’s handwriting a thing of the past.
