To date, most medical conferences do not have patient speakers and attendees, but Doctors 2.0 & You WELCOMES patients. Hence, we proudly display the “patients included” logo that was created by our friend Lucien Engelen in 2011 on our homepage.

At Doctors 2.0 & You we always have patient speakers and attendees, but not quite as many as we’d like. Kathi Apostolidis has been a most enthusiastic ambassador for our conference, and I’m sure that many of her compatriots are aware of the conference and our work, as a result.

As you listen to her interview video below, please consider contributing to our MedStart’r crowdfunding campaign to fund travel for more patients to be able to come to Paris.

We had great fun with Muriel making this video. She had to remind me all the time not to move and to not close my eyes! Both were difficult for me as I had the sun on my face and normally, I can't open my eyes in the sun!

Besides she had to do a lot of "montage" to cut down on my very looong "tirade". Finally, it's a very good video!

I am a great supporter of the crowdfunding of patient participation in healthcare/medical conferences as it shows the road to althernative fundraising possibilities than the ones patients and patient organizations are used to. I think that all parties, individuals, companies, organizations and gov.agencies interested in a more social and participatory medicine, should welcome and contribute to this new fundraising possibility.

We need to hear many new e-patient voices from all European and beyond countries next June in Paris at Doctors 2.0 & You. This may be achieved by contributing (even the smallest contribution will be most appreciated!) to the online crowdfunding on MedStartr but also by shouting out this possibility to patients and patient organizations across Europe. I will do my share through the European cancer patient community in Euirope.

You may ask why it is so important to participate in Doctors 2.0 & You: learning, sharing, communicating with e-patients. doctors, scholars, from diverse paths of health/healthcare and countries is a unique experience, that does not end on the last day of the conference. I have met and known in Paris many people from many countries with whom we share the same interests and we have developed also a good friendly offline relationship.
