How to Naturally Detox Your Body While Relaxing at Home
In the modern world we live in, toxins and chemicals are all around us. In our drinking water, in the air that we breathe, in the food we eat, in the materials we use to build and furnish our home, in our beauty products and even in our furniture.
Even if you try to eat organic food, use organic beauty products and make your own laundry detergent, toxins are unavoidable, simply because they are all over the place.
Our body simply can’t deal with all these toxins without your help. The chemicals in your body start to build up and all kinds of health problems begin to emerge.
In 2013, natural body detox and heavy metal cleansing is a must for every adult who wants to keep healthy and prevent cancer (and definitely for anyone who wants to cure cancer).
From detox baths, to detox diets and programs, green juicing, exercising and colon cleansing – There are dozens of natural ways to detox your body.
Excuse my laziness, but I’m interested in an effortless way to detox. I don’t have enough time to exercise regularly, fasting and dieting is definitely not for me and colon cleansing? Well, not before the third date.
Effortless Body Detox Through Your Skin
One of the most overlooked ways to eliminate toxins is actually the skin, which offers a vast exit root poisons trapped in our body.
There are two easy ways to draw toxins out of your body through your skin: Deep sweating and baths.
Way #1 to Detox Through Your Skin – Deep Sweating
Medical studies can demonstrate that most toxins can be eliminated through the skin, relieving the burden on the kidneys and liver. Sweating increases dramatically in most people after several months of regular sauna use. Supervision during a sauna therapy program is helpful especially if you have any type of health condition
Sweating does indeed increase mercury excretion. Probably an hour or two of sauna is the same as 50 mg of DMSA every 4 hours for a day.
- Dr. Andrew Cutler (Ph.D. chemist who found himself sick with mercury poisoning)
The obvious way to work up a good sweat is obviously exercising. But as I mentioned above, I want an easier method. So, how can you relax and sweat at the same time?
I went for a portable infrared sauna because it has the same benefits but it takes up much less space and is much cheaper. I’ve been using this portable infrared sauna at home for about a year now, and I think it’s one of the best inventions of all time.
The sweat feels different, less watery, and slimier. It made me think there was some truth to the assertions being made about far-infrared and its ability to draw more toxins than the standard regular sauna.
The volume of sweat produced in the far-infrared sauna is two or three times the sweat volume of a conventional sauna, yet it operates at much cooler temperature range. About 110-130° F, compared with 180-235° F in a regular sauna.
An infrared sauna combines the ancient detox traditions with the modern far infrared heating technology and makes an effective way to deeply cleanse the tissues of your body – Naturally and effortlessly.
But wait, infrared therapy is also an effortless way to get your heart pumping (that’s right, without exercise!), burn calories and lower blood pressure. Just make sure to check with your doctor if you have any type of health condition.

Way #2 to Detoxify Through Your Skin – Clay Baths
The most basic and ancient earth materials can be used to literally suck the poisons through the skin. Clay, and specifically bentonite clay (a very fine volcanic clay), is ideal for this and is very inexpensive and practical way to naturally detox at home.
From the Mountain Rose Herbs Blog:
“Bentonite clay (also known as Montmorillonite) is an edible clay from naturally occurring volcanic ash sediments, and contains over 70 trace minerals. This clay is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays used to treat both internal and external maladies. The largest and most active deposits come from Wyoming and Montana. (Mountain Rose Herbs stocks a Wyoming variety).
Bentonite clay is traditionally used as an internal supplement to assist with mineral deficiencies, and to help bind toxins making them more soluble. Externally, Bentonite is used as a clay poultice, mud pack, in the bath, and in skin care recipes.
Bentonite clay has the ability to absorb toxins, impurities, heavy metals and other contaminants from the body, and is ingested to treat mineral deficiencies, anemia, stomach ulcers, diarrhea, intestinal problems, hemorrhoids, and for general organ health“.
How to Detox Naturally Using Clay
Baths: Add 2-3 ounces of bentonite clay to your bath water, and thoroughly mix in. Soak and enjoy. Feel free to add essential oils or an herbal infusion to enrich the experience.
Body Packs: Add one part clay to three parts water or until the desired consistency is reached. Mix thoroughly to an even paste, and then apply to skin area.
Warning! You will be exhausted after your bath, so do this right before bed. I feel like a wrung-out dish rag afterwards, but energized, healthy and refreshed in the morning, looking forward to a great new day.
